It is possible to find the perfect rug, to add style, color and texture, for every room in your home. When you come to Little River Oriental Rugs, delight your senses in our Showroom Gallery – this is where exceptional handmades can be found.
Here you will find a gorgeous selection of new hand-knotted rugs, all expertly crafted of the finest wools and natural vegetable dyes. With over 20,000 square feet of area rugs, we have hand-selected over 900 one-of-a-kind pieces, in every style: from Traditional, Tribal and Modern to Folk, Tibetan and Gabbeh.
Formerly ‘David Levine Oriental Rugs’, we are family owned and operated, and have been located in historic downtown Concord, NH since 1989.
Our hand-carded, hand-spun, vegetable dyed, hand-knotted wool rugs are truly exceptional works of art, painstakingly crafted by refugee weavers from Afghanistan and Tibet. We also have a small, beautiful selection of hand-knotted wool rugs from India. We have very few rugs from Iran and currently do not have any Turkish rugs.
Co-owned by a professional rug designer, we have a passion for floor coverings here at Little River. We invite you to come in for a visit to see what's new as we bring in 25 to 50 new rugs about every month, to be inspired (the handwork, detail and colors are just amazing), and to envision what your room could become - we want you to get the perfect rug for your environment, lifestyle and budget. We encourage you to take us up on our no obligation, in-home approval policy: take a rug (or a few!) home for up to three days before you buy!
Compared to other rug stores, you might find our shop on the small side. We like to think of it as being more intimate and decidedly cozy. Our customers agree and they often say that we have the finest selection in the Northern New England area (and no Sales Tax!). With limited space, we have hand-picked everything we offer. You won't be overwhelmed by hundreds and hundreds of rugs in just one size and feel pressured to look through a massive 6' high stack or two; we've done the curating for you. If we don't have the right rug for you, you can be sure we'll look to find it for you - in the right size, colors and design. We always have a "wish list" going for our customers and bring back rugs of interest for them to review, at their convenience, in person or by picture, with no obligation to purchase anything. We are also happy to work with you on special orders of custom made rugs.
Little River Oriental Rugs in downtown Concord offers expert rug hand-repair and we provide the ONLY full immersion hand-wash cleaning in the area, which is suitable for any type of rug in your home.
We have a repair person that works on old or damaged rugs: rewrapping the sides, stabilizing the fringe ends or replacing worn out fringe with new fringe. Rugs that require more specialized repair, such as repiling torn or worn out areas or moth damage, are subject to other excellent repair persons we work with accepting new work. Rugs do need to be cleaned prior to having any repair work done. Our full immersion hand-washing is done at an off-site facility.
Little River Oriental Rugs is proud to support Sustainable Style through our selection of rugs that use hand-carded and hand-spun native wools, that are dyed with native vegetal matter, and are river washed and sun dried. No matter what color rug you select at Little River, it will be "green".
We also offer EcoNet™, the only sustainable rug pad, which is made of natural rubber and jute. {They also plant a tree for every pad sold.} We also offer a thicker needle punch Felt pad which is made from recycled textile products and provides a little more cushion underfoot. This felt pad is suitable for wall-to-wall carpeting as well as hard surface flooring. Rug pads serve many functions: they hold rugs safely in place, they protect your rug and your floor, and they help to prevent premature wear.
We are most proud though of the work done when a rug is purchased at Little River Oriental Rugs as we support a number of non-profit organizations, which are funded by both wholesale and retail rug sales, to benefit our refugee weavers, their families and their communities.
From building schools and medical facilities, to supplying textbooks and clean water systems, they also support economic development and female empowerment, among many other missions.
You can learn more about these wonderful organizations: 'Barakat', at www.barakatworld.org and 'The Machick Tibetan Weaving Project', at www.machik.org.
Just as we work in partnership with our weavers, we work in partnership with customers and designers. Little River is big enough to provide a great selection of heirloom quality rugs, but small enough to provide the personal service that you will appreciate.
There is a serendipity about all fine rug shops. Please visit, call us at 603.225.5512 or e-mail us. We certainly sell rugs from this site, but if you're able, please visit our showroom. In either case, if you see something you like, try it in your home. We look forward to meeting you!
